Google DeepMind Introduces Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber for Vulnerability Detection

Google DeepMind has introduced Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber, a lightweight model specialized in finding, validating, and helping patch software vulnerabilities. It will initially be available through a limited CodeMender pilot for governments and trusted partners.

Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber is built on Gemini 3.5 Flash and fine-tuned for cybersecurity tasks. Google DeepMind says its speed and efficiency allow defenders to examine more code paths across large codebases while searching for subtle software flaws.

The company reports that the model was tested on internal codebases, including Chrome and Android, where it identified complex vulnerabilities that standard models missed. These performance claims are based primarily on Google’s own testing, and the available evidence does not establish independent benchmark results.

Because cybersecurity models can have dual-use implications, Google is taking a staged deployment approach. The initial release will be a limited-access pilot delivered through CodeMender to governments and trusted partners, with broader availability expected over time.
