[...] Z.ai has quietly stood up its own coding IDE. ZCode, pitched on the company's site as the 'Official Harness for GLM-5.2,' is now on version 3.2.2 and available for macOS, Windows and Linux, with the Linux build still marked Beta. It is a familiar move, a model vendor shipping the firs

## What Is ZCode? ZCode is not another chat sidebar. It's what Z.ai calls an "Agentic Development Environment" - a desktop application built from the ground up around long-horizon coding tasks. Instead of typing a prompt and getting a snippet back, you describe an outcome and the agent plans the work, edits files, runs tests, reviews results, and iterates until the goal is done. It's the official first-party harness for GLM-5.2, Z.ai's flagship model. Think of it as what Cursor is to Anthropic's models, but built by the same company that makes the model - no endpoint configuration, no API wrangling, the model is wired in. Available now on macOS, Windows, and Linux (beta). Free to download. You pay for the GLM Coding Plan underneath it. ## The Model Underneath: GLM-5.2 [...] ## Pricing That Undercuts Everyone The GLM Coding Plan tiers: Lite - $16.20/mo (was $18) Pro - $64.80/mo (was $72) Max - $144/mo (was $160) Through July 31: all subscribers get a 1.5x quota bonus with off-p

"Introducing ZCode, the official development environment for GLM-5.2," the company wrote on X, noting the tool is available on macOS, Windows, and Linux, supports bring-your-own-key (BYOK) configurations for third-party models, and offers a 1.5x usage-quota bonus for subscribers to its GLM Coding Plan. Read one way, ZCode is simply another entrant in a crowded market. Read another, it is a single product that crystallizes three of the most consequential trends in enterprise software today: the race-to-the-bottom pricing of frontier AI models, the geopolitical balkanization of the AI stack, and the rapid maturation of agentic coding agents into what Gartner now estimates is a roughly $10 billion market. ## An AI coding tool designed to think in projects, not prompts [...] Through July 31, ZCode is offering a promotional 1.5x effective quota bonus for Coding Plan subscribers, with off-peak token consumption charged at a 0.67x coefficient. The platform also supports multiple AI models a

A limited-time promotion through September 2026 drops off-peak to 1x consumption. During ZCode's campaign (through July 31, 2026), GLM-5.2 usage via the Coding Plan is metered at a 0.67 factor - effectively about 1.5x the usable quota. ### Pay-As-You-Go Alternative# If you prefer API pricing over subscriptions: | Model | Input (per MTok) | Output (per MTok) | --- | GLM-5.2 | $1.40 | $4.40 | | GLM-5-turbo | $0.28 | $0.84 | These are competitive rates - GLM-5.2 output is roughly 10x cheaper than Claude Fable 5.
