OpenAI сбросила лимиты ChatGPT Work и Codex после повышенного расхода Sol

A power user of subscription-based AI coding agents (Claude Code and Codex) critiques the recent surge of unannounced weekly quota resets by Anthropic and OpenAI. OpenAI reset Codex quotas six times in two weeks following the GPT-5.6 Sol release. While framed as user compensation for technical issues, the author argues these resets are likely a competitive retention tactic to prevent power users from switching to rival models once their quota runs out. The frequent resets create frustration rather than delight, as users feel pressure to urgently consume quota and lose track of reset schedules. The author warns that if resets continue at this pace, they lose all meaning and may actually incentivize users to downgrade their plans. Hello people of Sol! I've reset usage limits for all ChatGPT Work and Codex users. Together with that, a quick update on GPT-5.6 Sol usage limits. Over the past few weeks, many of you have told us that Sol was using your Codex limits faster than expected. To be clear, we have not reduced usage on any subscription plans. We’ve been digging into what was happening and have landed several improvements. As a result, we expect your usage to last around 18% longer during typical use of Sol. Some of you should already see significantly larger improvements from today. Tomorrow, we’ll also restore the five-hour limit that we temporarily paused while investigating. Here’s what we found: - GPT-5.6 Sol is much more willing to work for longer, make additional tool calls, and coordinate complex [...] OpenAI has reset usage limits for ChatGPT Work and Codex users following complaints that GPT-5.6 Sol was consuming limits faster than expected. The company identified several causes: Sol is more willing

Codex and ChatGPT consume local messages and cloud-based tasks against a shared usage limit. Normally, ChatGPT operates within a rolling five-hour window, along with additional weekly limits based on the user’s plan and model. With the removal of the five-hour cap, users no longer have to halt their work upon reaching the limit. OpenAI is also enhancing GPT-5.6 Sol’s efficiency, allowing it to consume less usage while managing more tasks. Tibo noted, “[We are] rolling out changes that will make GPT-5.6 Sol more efficient across the board and that will be reflected in less usage being used so that it can take you further.” [...] > Morning. # OpenAI temporarily relaxes GPT-5.6 Sol usage limits ###### Mayank Parmar OpenAI is temporarily relaxing GPT-5.6 Sol usage limits after demand for the company's most powerful model surged over the past 48 hours. On Sunday, OpenAI confirmed that it is temporarily removing the five-hour usage restriction for Plus, Pro, and Business plans, while also resetting current usage for everyone. "The last 48 hours of Codex and ChatGPT Work have been intense," OpenAI product lead Tibo said in a post on X. "[We're] temporarily removing the 5 hour usage limit restriction for all Plus, Business and Pro plans." For those unaware, Codex and ChatGPT count local messages and cloud-based tasks against a shared usage limit. [...] ChatGPT normally uses a rolling five-hour window, while weekly limits can also apply depending on the plan and model. With the shorter restriction removed, you are no longer forced to stop working simply because you have exhausted that five-hour window. ## GPT 5.6 to beco

if you use the ultra and the extra, it's going to use a lot more tokens. And there we go. It's going to respond. Yep, there we go. So, you just got to see which model you want to use. So, it's got the ultra, extra high. I've also been told if you want to use the Luna, that's the most efficient and the Terra Terra. And then that one also has extra high and ultra. So, ultra consumes limit faster. Now, if you're using the Codex CLI version, then I'm just going to quickly show you how to do that as well. Now, in order to install the Codex, um I've already got it installed, but I'll put the steps in the description below as well. And pretty much you've just got to configure once you've installed Codex, you've got to configure the config.toml file as well. So, let me show you what I currently
