OpenAI снизила цену GPT-5.6 Luna на 80% и ускорила режим Sol

OpenAI has cut API prices for two GPT-5.6 models: Luna drops 80% to $0.20/$1.20 per million input/output tokens, and Terra drops 20% to $2/$12. These price reductions also affect usage quotas in Codex and ChatGPT Work, allowing more tasks under the same allowance. Auto-review in ChatGPT and Codex CLI is being upgraded from GPT-5.4 to GPT-5.6 Luna, reducing costs roughly tenfold. Additionally, a new GPT-5.6 Sol Fast mode offers up to 2.5x faster processing at twice the standard price, targeting time-sensitive coding, research, and agentic workloads. Luna now costs $0.20 /$1.20 per 1M input/output tokens, down from $1 and $6 at launch. Terra now costs $2/$12 p per 1M input/output tokens, while GPT-5.6 Sol Standard remains $5 and $30. Sol Fast takes the opposite approach, offering up

Starting today, GPT‑5.6 Luna, our fastest and most affordable model, will cost 80% less, while GPT‑5.6 Terra, our balanced model for everyday work, will cost 20% less. These lower prices for Luna and Terra are also reflected in how usage is counted against paid subscriptions when using Codex and ChatGPT Work. Luna gives businesses a far more cost-effective way to handle high-volume work at very high levels of quality. It can use tools and complete multi-step workflows, making a broader range of AI applications practical to run at scale. Today, we’re passing those gains on to customers with lower prices for GPT‑5.6 Luna(opens in a new window) and Terra(opens in a new window) and faster performance with GPT‑5.6 Sol in the API. Together, these updates help customers get more from every dollar they invest in AI and move faster when time matters. [...] ## Availability and pricing GPT‑5.6 Terra and Luna re

—Itamar Friedman, Co-Founder & CEO at Qodo > “GPT‑5.6 Sol is really, really good. It’s the most tenacious problem-solver we’ve seen yet, staying focused and on-task for days at a time. It’s exceptional at updating Custom Agents and refining memories as your workspace evolves, so they get sharper the longer they run. Terra and Luna also punch well above their price. Many agents running GPT‑5.5 perform just as well on Terra for half the cost and 16% fewer tokens.” —Simon Last, Co-Founder at Notion > “For production coding agents, GPT‑5.6 stood out as a top-tier model that combines strong coding-agent performance with very strong cost efficiency.” —Scott Wu, Co-founder & CEO at Cognition [...] GPT‑5.6’s strength on knowledge work shows up in evaluations spanning long-horizon professional analysis, browsing, tool use, and computer use. GPT‑5.6 Sol sets new state-of-the-art results on BrowseComp at 92.2% and OSWorld 2.0at 62.6%; on OSWorld, it surpasses Opus 4.8 while using 85% fewer ou

GPT‑5.6 is priced per 1M tokens across three model sizes: Sol is $5 input / $30 output; Terra is $2.50 input / $15 output; and Luna is $1 input / $6 output. GPT‑5.6 also introduces more predictable prompt caching, including support for explicit cache breakpoints and a 30-minute minimum cache life. For GPT‑5.6 and later models, cache writes are billed at 1.25x the model’s uncached input rate, while cache reads continue to receive the 90% cached-input discount. We’re also launching GPT‑5.6 Sol on Cerebras at up to 750 tokens per second in July, bringing frontier intelligence to customers at unprecedented speed. Access will initially be limited to select customers as we expand capacity.

Open AI just dropped their prices by 80% and that's awesome, but it's also not even the most impressive thing. They used their best model, GPT 5.6 Soul, to improve itself to find efficiency gains. That's how they were able to drop the price so much. I have so many thoughts about this because this is essentially recursive self-improvement and there are so many implications. Let's go through them. First, let me show you the news. So, here's Sam Altman, major price cuts today, an 80% drop for GPT 5.6 Luna. Luna is the smallest of the three models in the GPT 5.6 family and it's actually really good. And when I show you the charts comparing it to other models including Fable, you're going to be even more excited about this price drop. So, now it's 20 cents per million input tokens and a dollar [...] back to this chart, you need to be using Luna. Luna was already a fantastic model and now you can run it on max mode and it is so inexpensive. This is a major, major upgrade to all of our lives.

in a critical situation, and GPT- 5.6 Soul fast mode makes sense for you. And they're also saying that they're also upgrading the auto review in the chat GPT app and Codex CLI from 5.4 to 5.6 Luna. And combined with Luna's new price, they expect the auto review to cost about 10 times less, making a lot of people's agentic workflows more cost-efficient. Which is another big for a lot of users because auto review is something that a lot of people might be using. And but if any of you're able to do that now at a cheaper cost, as well with the more intelligent model, that's a win-win on both ends. Now, at the end over here is obviously a little bit of marketing, but they're saying that making advanced intelligence more abundant and affordable is central to our mission to ensure AGI benefits [...] in China, GLM 5.5 being one of them. And GLM 5.2 was a pretty successful model. Even though it might not be number one on benchmarks, it's still a pretty capable model. So, if GLM 5.5 is successfu
