DeepSeek-V4-Pro’s 75% discount has conflicting end-date claims

Multiple reports support a 75% API price reduction for DeepSeek-V4-Pro. Earlier messaging put the end of the promotion at May 31, 2026, while a later DeepSeek post indicates the discount may have become permanent.

DeepSeek-V4-Pro’s API pricing announcement is being described in two different ways. The candidate post says a 75% discount was extended from an earlier May 5 deadline to May 31, 2026, at 15:59 UTC. A later post attributed to DeepSeek, however, says the company is making the discount permanent.

Independent technology reports broadly support the size of the reduction and describe substantially lower input and output rates. They also report that cache-hit input pricing across the API lineup was cut to one-tenth of its previous level.

The “extended through May 31” and “permanent” descriptions are materially different, so the final policy status should be treated as unresolved in this item. Developers should verify the current pricing table and terms in DeepSeek’s official API documentation before making production or budgeting decisions.

DeepSeek has made its 75% price reduction for the V4-Pro model permanent, effective May 31, 2026. What began as a promotional discount is now the standard pricing. The numbers are significant. DeepSeek-V4-Pro now sits at $0.435 per million uncached input tokens and $0.87 per million output tokens, down from the original $1.74 and $3.48. That’s not a rounding error. For businesses running agentic workflows at any meaningful scale, these figures change the cost conversation entirely. [...] And that’s before accounting for the cache hit change. Since April 26, DeepSeek has also cut input cache hit prices across its entire API suite to one-tenth of their original levels. For production agentic applications, where repeated or structurally similar requests are the norm rather than the exception, thi
