Z.ai Offers 100M GLM-5.3 Tokens to 50,000 New ZCode Users

we're turning Build Week into an ongoing series. From now to Aug 23 at 6 PM PT, we're giving 50,000 new ZCode users 100M free GLM-5.3 tokens

ZAI is giving away 100 million GLM 5.3 tokens to new Zcode users during a time-boxed promotional window, roughly 6 to 7 times the size of the normal free trial. The giveaway is capped at 50,000 packs on a first come, first served basis, and a first attempt at this promotion reportedly ran out of capacity in about an hour before being paused and reopened. Only new users qualify, and you have to redeem the tokens inside the Zcode desktop app itself. You can’t route them through Claude Code, Kilo, or your own API scripts. Unused tokens don’t roll over. The grant behaves like a large daily allowance that resets during the event window, not a permanent balance sitting in your account, so tokens left untouched when the event ends are simply gone. ZAI ran a limited-time promotion called the GLM 5.3 times Zcode weekend build, aimed at new users. The mechanics were simple on paper: log into Zcode for the first time during the promotional window, and 100 million free GLM 5.3 tokens landed in the account automatically, no claim process or payment details required. The first attempt at this promotion ran for roughly an hour before ZAI pulled it, citing demand exceeding expectations and adjustments to service capacity. Anyone who signed up in that window kept the tokens; anyone after got dropped back to the standard trial. A second round followed with a hard cap of 50,000 token packs, distributed first come, first served, running across a roughly two-and-a-half day window. [...] A few conditions applied across both rounds: the offer was for new users only, tokens could only be spent inside the Zcode app itself (not piped out through the API to other tools), and unused tokens expired when the event window closed. The tokens behaved li
