阿里云Z.ai has announced GLM-5.3, a model focused on coding, agentic workflows, and cybersecurity. It is built through post-training on a 743-billion-parameter base model and is currently available via the GLM Coding Plan and ZCode, with API access and open weights planned in stages.
Z.ai has introduced GLM-5.3 as a new model for demanding software-development and agentic tasks. The company says the system was produced by applying extensive post-training to a 743-billion-parameter base model, with an emphasis on code generation, tool use, and long-running task execution.
The release also highlights cybersecurity capabilities, including vulnerability discovery, exploit reasoning, and timed security challenges. Z.ai describes the results as a major advance among open models, but those performance claims are currently vendor statements and warrant confirmation through independent testing.
GLM-5.3 is available now through the GLM Coding Plan and ZCode. Z.ai says API access and open weights will be released in stages after additional safety evaluations.
Source review does not guarantee permanent accuracy. Consider the original source, observation time, and later corrections.
Update context: This is the confirmed launch of the model explainx.ai covered as community speculation in June, when Zhipu founder Jie Tang polled X on what GLM-5.3 should include. Vision won that poll. The actual GLM-5.3 launch is not about vision — it's about coding and cybersecurity. On August 14, 2026 at 10:47 AM, Z.ai (@Zai\_org) posted the announcement that ends six weeks of speculation: "Introducing GLM-5.3: Built to Code. Ready for Cyber Defense. — Top-tier coding and agentic capabilities, achieved through post-training on the 743B base model — A major leap in cybersecurity, setting a new standard among open models." GLM-5.3 keeps the 743 billion parameter base from GLM-5.2 but pushes post-training hard toward long-horizon coding and agentic reliability. On benchmarks like Terminal-Bench, Agent’s Last Exam, Automation Bench, and tool-based Humanity’s Last Exam, GLM-5.3 sits at or near the top among open weight models, occasionally matching closed frontier systems. The model shows improved token efficiency, delivering stronger agentic coding accuracy per token spent than its predecessor, which matters for long-running agent loops and cost control. ZAI reports a sharp, unplanned jump in cybersecurity performance, including white box vulnerability finding, exploit reasoning, and timed exploit challenges, landing near or ahead of some closed models. [...] ## What is GLM-5.3 and why does it matter? GLM-5.3 is ZAI’s newest large language model, built on the same 743 billion parameter base as GLM-5.2 but reworked through heavier post-training focused on coding and agentic tasks. What makes it notable
