阿里云Several sources indicate that Qwen3.8-Max is available for testing and targets coding, research, and long-horizon tasks. Alibaba’s official material describes it as the strongest model in the Qwen family so far and says open weights are planned.
Qwen3.8-Max is attracting attention as a high-end model for coding, research, general work, and complex multi-step tasks. Qwen’s official announcement describes broad capability improvements, a 2.4-trillion-parameter scale, and a plan to release open weights shortly afterward. The model is also being used in products such as Cola, which rely on persistent memory and complex task orchestration.
The release status is not described consistently across the evidence. An independent review identifies the currently accessible product more precisely as Qwen3.8-Max-Preview, a paid preview rather than a finished public release. The claim that the model has already been fully released should therefore be treated with caution.
User reactions are mixed. Some reviewers praise its writing and design performance and place it among the leading models, while others report very long reasoning times, wasted tokens, and occasional hallucinations. Statements that it is highly cost-effective or broadly praised by its community are mainly based on individual experiences or promotional claims, not independent, systematic evaluation.
Source review does not guarantee permanent accuracy. Consider the original source, observation time, and later corrections.

QWEN STUDIO DISCORD Today, we are officially releasing Qwen 3.8-Max, the most capable model in the Qwen family to date. This also marks the first time we will open-source the weights of a Qwen-Max-class model — the open weights will be released next week. Built upon the architectural foundation of Qwen 3.5, Qwen 3.8-Max scales to 2.4 trillion parameters, delivering comprehensive improvements across coding, work, research, and long-horizon tasks. It can not only answer more challenging questions, but also complete complex tasks end-to-end with greater reliability, producing dependable deliverables. [...] Multi-source Evolution: product upgrades from multiple demand signals. By converting community experience and user / developer feedback into executable work, the harness continuously evolves `/goal`, `/resume`, Dynamic Workflow, Session Replay, Desktop, and other capabilities. [...] Qwen3.8-Max ultimately achieved the highest total balance of ¥416,252 (a 4.16x return), surpassing the s
## Verdict: Who Should Use Qwen3.8-Max? Qwen3.8-Max is very good and very slow. If speed doesn't matter for your task, it belongs in the top tier right now, alongside Fable 5, ChatGPT 5.6 Sol, Grok 4.5 and Kimi K3. Honestly, they're all great, and they're all close. The frontier has become crowded, and the real differentiators now are price, speed, availability and vibe. For me, today, Grok 4.5 stays my daily driver purely because of speed and efficiency. That could change next month. It changes depending on the task, too. And if you're doing something genuinely important, run it through two or three of these models and compare. That's a luxury we simply didn't have a year ago. [...] Quick naming note before we start. The official name is Qwen3.8-Max-Preview (product ID `qwen3.8-max-preview`). Everyone's calling it "Qwen 3.8 Max", including me in casual conversation, but keep in mind this is a paid preview available through Alibaba's Token Plan, not a finished release. Open weights a

Model is creative on designs it is just so good at this really and with someguidance it can push more even It is so good on writing tasks (if we ignored excessive emojis) - second after kimi k2 on this task (yes k2 not k3 while i think in this area both are great) Whats bad? Thinking time is so so bad For example for simple landing page i asked for model thought for about 20 minutes just thinking! And same pattern happens with each prompt except most noncoding questions/tasks [...] With fast tps (60 ~ 65 t/s) the interesting thing model is not looping in thinking but thinking too much which is not so good and wasting time and tokens in some prompts for reason asons it fall badly even before sonnet It hullancate above expected tbh for obvious things and misses things mor

A few days ago, Alibaba officially announced QN 3.8 and it's shaping up to be one of the biggest openweight AI releases of the year. According to Alibaba, QN 3.8 is a massive 2.4 trillion parameter model designed to continuously evolve over time. The company also claims it's one of the most powerful AI models available today, making this an exciting release for developers and AI enthusiasts. The best part, you don't have to wait to try it. Alibaba has already made the QN 3.8 Max preview available, giving users an early look at the model before the full release. You can access QN 3.8 Max preview right now through the QN Studio app, which is available for both Windows and Mac OS. If you don't want to install anything, you can also use it directly on the chat.qn.ai website.
