Google DeepMind and Fenris Creations Explore Long-Horizon AI in Games

Google DeepMind says it is partnering with Fenris Creations to use persistent virtual worlds as research environments for continual learning, deep memory, long-term planning, and multi-agent behavior.

Google DeepMind describes games as a major testbed for its AI research over the past 15 years. Work spanning Atari and StarCraft II helped investigate learning and decision-making in controlled but complex environments, while SIMA examined how agents can understand 3D worlds and follow natural-language instructions.

The research partnership with Fenris Creations is intended to extend that work into a persistent virtual universe with richer social dynamics.
