DeepSeek V4 May Introduce Peak and Off-Peak Pricing

Several Chinese technology outlets, citing a DeepSeek email, report that the V4 release may use time-based API pricing. Rates during specified Beijing-time peak periods could be about twice current prices, while off-peak rates may remain largely unchanged.

Several Chinese technology outlets report that DeepSeek plans to launch the V4 production version in mid-July with a revised API pricing model. The reported schedule defines 9:00–12:00 and 14:00–18:00 Beijing time as peak periods, when prices could rise to roughly twice the current level. Rates outside those windows are described as mostly unchanged.

The reports associate the change with computing-resource constraints, capacity management, and efforts to improve service stability. They also say the production release is expected to include performance or feature improvements. Multimodal capabilities, stronger coding performance, and better reasoning are mentioned as areas of interest, but the available evidence does not confirm every feature claim.

The information currently comes primarily from secondary reports summarizing an alleged official email, rather than from a directly verifiable DeepSeek pricing announcement. The effective date, covered models, token rates, and exact peak-period rules therefore remain subject to confirmation by DeepSeek.
