DeepSeek has announced the public beta of its V4-Flash-0731 API. Reports say the release keeps the same architecture and parameter scale as V4-Flash Preview, while improvements are attributed mainly to post-training and alignment work. DeepSeek claims that the model performs substantially better on several agent benchmarks, with some results exceeding those of V4-Pro-Preview.

The most practical change for developers is at the interface level. V4-Flash-0731 natively supports the OpenAI Responses API and has been adapted for Codex. With the configuration described in DeepSeek’s documentation, developers can use the model in Codex workflows involving repository inspection, terminal commands, file edits, and result verification.

The update currently applies only to the V4-Flash API. The V4-Pro API and the models offered through DeepSeek’s app and website have not been reported as changed. The final V4-Pro release date remains unspecified, and detailed pricing and benchmark figures should be verified against DeepSeek’s official documentation.
