Cumora Open-Sources a Team Workspace Where AI Agents Are First-Class Members
yetone has open-sourced Cumora, a collaboration product designed to make AI agents active members of a team workspace. Its Slack-like interface combines human-agent conversations with task and project coordination.
Cumora presents AI agents as more than on-demand chatbots. Agents can have names, personas, memories, and statuses, participate in direct and group conversations, claim tasks, and reportedly follow up proactively when unresolved issues surface. The workspace also brings together chat, kanban-style boards, and calendars.
The project describes two operating modes. Cumora Cloud runs agents in hosted infrastructure, while its BYOA option lets users connect a locally running Claude Code or Codex CLI as the agent’s reasoning layer. The latter is intended to use the user’s own subscription without sending provider keys through Cumora’s servers.
To limit duplicate work and outdated responses, Cumora reportedly checks whether an agent’s context is stale, makes task claiming atomic, and uses a lightweight triage layer before invoking a larger model. The product is described as being in an invite-only beta, with self-hosting and desktop support available or planned; these details should be confirmed against the official repository and documentation.
