Cloudflare Opens Wallet Handle Reservations for AI-Agent Payments
Cloudflare has launched Cloudflare Wallets and opened free reservations for wallet handles. The service is designed to give people and AI agents stable identities and, later, controlled payment access for APIs and digital content.
Cloudflare is now allowing users to reserve a Cloudflare Wallet handle through cloudflare.pay. Each wallet is associated with a unique username that can help users and their agents identify themselves when interacting with online services. Agents may optionally indicate which person or organization they represent, or remain anonymous.
The current release is primarily a handle-reservation launch, not the arrival of every wallet capability. Cloudflare says deposits, withdrawals, and virtual wallets for agents will be introduced over the coming months.
The broader goal is to address two limitations of autonomous agents: the lack of a stable identifier and the lack of a native way to pay for services. Future controls are expected to let users assign budgets, spending limits, allowlists, and other rules so agents can purchase APIs, content, and related services without receiving direct access to card details.
