Clear acceptance criteria can keep AI tasks on track

A social media post argues that well-defined goals and strict acceptance criteria are central to making AI-assisted work more reliable. The accompanying discussion also recommends setting boundaries, requesting intermediate outputs, and adding self-checks.

The approach treats delegation to AI much like managing a team: a broad request is rarely enough. A useful task description should explain the intended outcome, the reason for it, the permitted scope, and the conditions that define completion. For complex work, asking for an outline or draft early can expose problems before they become costly.

The post places particular emphasis on acceptance criteria in software development and other multi-step tasks. Specifying tests and pass conditions in advance gives an AI agent a basis for checking its own work and revising it before delivery, reducing manual verification and repeated back-and-forth.
